Between Humanity and Regimes
A standalone reflection on the impact and sadness of war—how regimes leave behind not just destruction, but an ache that never leaves.
My poetry has always centered on internal struggles, healing, growth, and the ties between relationships and community. To write a poem with a strong political undertone felt outside my wheelhouse—yet not beyond my control, as I wrestled with overwhelming feelings about the universal impact of decisions made far beyond our reach.
This poem is not a commentary on one regime or a single political movement, or political view, but on the universal ache war leaves behind—and the trauma it inflicts.
In full honor and respect for those directly affected by the devastation of war, this poem still carries an essence of loss. It focuses on ache, fracture, and what endures—not only within individuals and families, but across the broader community, humanity itself
Ache of Regimes
Anguish—
penetrated existences,
hearts—
families fractured,
voids—
numb with tears,
burned deeply
into the disruption of futures.
Regimes—
without retrospectives,
neither in remorse
nor gain.
Damages—
simplified as collateral,
disregard—
for human life,
an ache—
not a remnant,
but an erosion,
that always remains.
